BIOGRAPHY

Baritone Dion Mazerolle has established himself in Canada, the United States, and Europe as an interpretive artist of the very first rank. Grand Prize Winner of the CBC Radio-Young Artist Competition, he has collaborated with internationally renowned conductors such as Yannick Nezet-Seguin, David Agler, Mark Flint, Christopher Jackson, Daniel Lipton, Eduardo Muller, Paul Nadler, Joseph Rescigno, Louis Salemno, Timothy Vernon, Willie Anthony Waters and Herve Niquet, on both the concert platform and in opera.

Dion appeared this season as Dulcamara in Donizetti's Elisir D'amore for a 20 show tour of Eastern Canada with Jeunesses Musicales du Canada. He subsequently appeared as Don Alfonzo of Mozart's Cosi fan Tutte with Opera York, Zurga in Bizet's Les Pecheurs de Perles with Montreal's new company Theatre Opera Immediat. He then sang Handel's Messiah with Symphony New Brunswick and the Louisburg Chorus.

In previous seasons, Dion performed in the North American Premiere of And the Rat Laughed by Israeli composer Ella Milch-Sherrif, as well as Belcore and Dulcamara in L'Elisir d'Amore, the Count in Nozze di Figaro, Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Other recent roles include Golaud in Debussy's Pelleas et Melisande, the Villains in Offenbach's Contes d'Hoffmann, Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen, and Ferdinand in Hoiby's The Tempest. His concert repertoire includes Handel's Messiah, Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Mass, and Faure's Requiem.

Dion Mazerolle studied music at the University of Moncton, the University of Montreal, and McGill University and was a member of the Atelier Lyrique de l'Opera de Montreal.
